
Dangiwa Advocates for Review of ARCON Act
Ahmed Dangiwa, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, has urged for the revision of the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria (ARCON) Act 2004.
He made this appeal during the recent inauguration of the reconstituted 14th Council of the Architects Registration Council of Nigeria in Abuja.
Dangiwa emphasized the need for a thorough review of the ARCON Act to bring it in line with contemporary realities. He stressed the importance of addressing any ambiguities in the Act to ensure its effectiveness.

Expressing concern over the alarming rate of building collapses in the country, the minister underscored the need for urgent action to prevent further loss of lives and resources. He called on ARCON to promote accountability and transparency within the built environment by fostering ethical conduct among registered architects.
Addressing the council members, Dangiwa emphasized the importance of unity and peaceful coexistence within the architectural community. He urged them to familiarize themselves with the ARCON Act and align their efforts with the housing and urban development agenda of President Bola Tinubu.

Meanwhile, Dipo Ajayi, the re-elected President of ARCON, echoed the call for unity among architectural professionals. He encouraged collaboration to create a brighter future for architecture in Nigeria, emphasizing the role of creativity and innovation in shaping the profession.
