ESTATE SURVEYORS URGED TO ENHANCE PERFORMANCE BY PRIORITISING LEISURE
Olugbenga Ismail, serving as the Chairman of the Lagos branch of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), placed a significant emphasis on the importance of physical and mental well-being in the real estate profession. He conveyed this message during an advocacy and fitness forum orchestrated by the welfare sub-committee in Lagos. The chairman also urged estate surveyors to give precedence to their health and well-being. He encouraged them to partake in a variety of sports and physical activities outside of their real estate duties to ensure they remain active and in good physical condition.
Ismail further reinforced the importance of the public availing themselves of the services of estate surveyors and acknowledging their multifaceted expertise. Estate surveyors possess comprehensive knowledge in surveying, valuation, asset management (both tangible and intangible), and the development of public and private infrastructures. Their skills encompass expertise in land economics, investment portfolio management, title documentation, and they serve as employers of labor, land administrators, and consultants. By engaging these professionals, society can benefit from their wealth of knowledge and experience.

Talat Yusuf-Abdulkadri, Chair of the Welfare Sub-committee, also emphasized the significance of this initiative in promoting a culture of healthy living among estate surveyors in Lagos. She underscored the priority of enhancing the membership experience, as this would enable estate surveyors to effectively fulfill their site-related responsibilities, which may include site inspections, climbing tall structures, and measuring extensive land areas, some exceeding five hectares. For such physically demanding tasks, it is essential for estate surveyors to maintain their fitness levels.
Yusuf-Abdulkadri fervently encouraged all estate surveyors and valuers to integrate regular exercise as a fundamental component of their lifestyle to ensure they remain physically fit and capable of meeting the rigorous demands of their profession.
