Housing Minister Urges Quantity Surveyors Board to Prioritize Transparency
The Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Ahmed Dangiwa, has called upon the newly appointed board of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria to uphold principles of integrity, honesty, transparency, and fairness in their professional endeavors.
Dangiwa delivered this message during the official inauguration of the 10th constituted Board of the Quantity Surveyors Registration Board of Nigeria. The board serves as a regulatory body for quantity surveyors, operating under the oversight of the Minister of Housing and Urban Development.

Comprising 15 members, the board includes six appointees from the ministry, five representatives from the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, and four appointees from higher education institutions.
Dangiwa emphasized that the appointment of board members was a call to national duty, stressing their pivotal role in addressing housing sector challenges in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s vision.
He outlined the board’s responsibilities, including setting standards for quantity surveyors’ knowledge and skills, as well as regulating and overseeing the profession comprehensively.
Dangiwa urged board members to familiarize themselves with their duties as outlined in the QSRBN’s enabling Act, emphasizing its importance in contributing to national development.

Furthermore, Dangiwa charged the board to utilize their expertise and training to mitigate the high costs associated with construction projects and procurement in the country. Highlighting the construction sector’s significant role in employment and economic growth, he stressed the importance of the board’s contributions.

In response, Obafemi Onashile, speaking on behalf of the new board, pledged their commitment to impartially fulfilling their duties. He assured collaboration with the Federal Government, the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors, and other stakeholders to enhance the profession’s impact on the country’s economy.
Onashile affirmed the board’s adherence to the QSRBN Act in executing their responsibilities, expressing their readiness to fulfill their roles effectively.
